A video I directed for Braids is out!

A quick test of a technique for my first year film at the RCA. Luiz suggested it might work well as a loop, so I threw in some extra frames on the end.

Disembodying Voice from Stephen McNally on Vimeo. The results of a quick workshop at the Royal College of Art. It's a bit all over the place, trying to blend CG and 2D techniques, with smears and dry brush effects for motion blur, etc.

Continuing last year's pagan themed Christmas (Odin), this year I'm looking at Saturn / Cronos, the Titan from whom we have received this holiday. Based on the Goya painting: 

And I was testing out some photoshop animation / animated GIF stuff.

Still trying to ease back into this drawing malarkey.

It's been ages since I last drew and I'm thoroughly rusty.

Various fragments and bits of tests for an animation I'm working on. Nothing's finished and it's all a bit rough around the edges. I took a break for February, but I'm intending to start back in to it for March.

A quick facial and cloth rig test of Odin, pressed into service as my messenger for the season.

A test of Thor's facial rig, it's a bit simpler than Loki's, but then so's Thor.

The original pen and ink sketch of Loki from ages ago.

This one is part of a larger project I'm working on, but also features in the Brainbelt Illustration Collective exhibition running in the Graphic Studio Gallery until tomorrow.
Loki was always my favourite of all the Norse gods, intelligent, mischievous and quick-witted.
Fenrir was one of Loki's children (One of the perils of shape-shifting amour) by the giantess Angrboða.

I'm a good bit happier with this one, although it's still work in progress.

Freyja's tears was a skaldic kenning for gold
